Basics about Nodes

ACE Email Management consists of software servers which may be located on the same physical server. In order for the communication within a computer system to work properly, the location of each software server has to be known. You are therefore required to specify the names of the locations which will be communicating. These locations are called nodes, which can be described as junction points in a computer network. Note that most references to nodes, when mentioned in this document, refer to so-called Erlang nodes.

Software servers in ACE Email Management are:

ACE Account Manager
Keeps track of email accounts and retrieves emails from an email server. There can only be one ACE Account Manager per ACE solution.
ACE Email Server
Handles email identification, automatic answers and email routing.
ACE WorkItem Server
Handles work items arriving via an open interface and forwards these work items to the agents.

ACE Server starts a ACE Account Manager on a node. ACE Server also starts one or more ACE Email Servers. If the solution is configured to handle work items one or more ACE Work Item Servers will also be started. The names of the nodes where these software servers are located are specified in ACE Admin, the Email and Work Item accounts window.

Nodes

In the Email and Work Item accounts window, the Nodes tab, you are able to see, add and remove node names. Node names are the addresses used for communication between different nodes.

Node names for ACE Email and ACE Account Manager are CallGuideEmail@computername and CallGuideAccountManager@computername respectively, where computername is the name of the computer where each server is installed. The computer name can be the same for both software servers.

Add or remove a node

To add a new email server node or a work item server node you click on the Add button belonging to each function.

Enter the relevant name and click Save.

When you have clicked the OK button you will also see the node names in the chart for accounts server connections, under the Accounts tab.

To remove a node you select the computer name in any of the lists and click the relevant Delete button.
